DESCRIPTION

One of the locally well known traditional mansions; built in 1882 and located inside Mykonos town with its own fully grown garden and unobstructed views of the old Mykonos port and sea, tall wooden ceilings and thick rock walls. It is quite rare for a property of this size and location to be available to let.

The mansion has been refurbished taking great care to maintain the look and feel of the traditional architecture of the island, whilst still providing modern creature comforts, including double glazed windows.

With its five bedrooms, five bathrooms three of which are ensuite, three kitchens, four living rooms, two terraces, a garden and two patios, the mansion can accommodate 10 guests, in 350 square meters of living spaces within an almost 1,000 square meters property.

NB: The property consists of a main house and two independent guest houses classically laid out. The main house has three bedrooms of which one is air-conditioned and the other two are sufficiently cooled by high quality ceiling fans, 1m – traditionally built – thick rock walls, 5m high ceilings and netted draft windows. The guest houses are with one bedroom each and are air-conditioned.

Mykonos (/ˈmɪkəˌnɒs/, /ˈmɪkəˌnoʊs/; Greek: Μύκονος [ˈmikonos]) is a Greek island, part of the Cyclades, lying between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos in the Aegean Sea, also referred to as the “Island of the Winds”. In Greek mythology, it is said to be the location of a great battle between Zeus and the Titans.

Mykonos Town with its picturesque winding maze like streets and very characteristic architecture is considered to be important to Greek architectural heritage and as such is a protected historic settlement similarly to that of Isl. Ydra.

The property is ideally located providing easy access to the Mykonos Town’s many restaurants, bars, cafes, clubs, shops and other attractions which are all within walking distance.

Delos is a world heritage site considered to be of Outstanding Universal Value and the entire island is an archaeological site. Access to Delos is by boats departing the Mykonos Town’s old port.

…Delos had considerable influence on the development of architecture and monumental arts during the Greco-Roman period…
…an extremely important cosmopolitan Mediterranean port that began to prosper since 314 BC, reaching outstanding levels during the 2nd and 1st centuries BC…
…Delos is directly and tangibly associated with one of the principal myths of Hellenic civilisation…
…not a village or a town was ever built over the ancient ruins. The only modern constructions on the island are the Museum…
Delos , even though a small (350.64 ha), rocky island in the centre of the Aegean Sea, was considered as “the most sacred of all islands” (Callimachus, 3rd centuryBC) in ancient Greek culture. According to the legend, it was there that Appolo-Sun, god of daylight, and his twin sister Artemis-Moon, goddess of night light, were born…
